Just Call Me Conehead!

Goodness, it's been a long time since I got near a computer! The mailbox is exploding, and I can only apologise yet again for not getting back to you all. I hope everyone here had a spectacular festive season and that you are all gearing up for a great NYE celebration.

Christmas was a bit strange this year as I was away from home for the first time, I woke up on a stranger's couch and didn't have any presents under the tree, or any to really give anyone either so all in all I felt a bit low at first. Fortunately this changed fairly quickly when we all met up in Rushcutter's Bay park for a big Boardfree & Chums Xmas picnic! For $15 each, we had the best nosh up I can remember in a long time and our secret Santa was the best. It was hilarious to watch everyone getting strange and wonderful cheap gifts. The best was Connie/Juanita/Conita, Dave's chihuahua from Holly. I got some really nice toe socks by Rip Curl from Kate - thank you Kabo!

We've been staying at Sailability Lisa's house and it's been really nice - just taking every day as it comes and chilling out - it's tough to get used to standing still, and it's not something I'm particularly comfortable with but I'm dealing with it. I've got a few plans of things I'd like to do and I've been scoping out the shopping possibilities for when I return to Sydney at the end of January.

It feels strange thinking there are only about 20 more glorious days of skating and fundraising ahead til this thing ends. I don't like to think about it but I do know that I'll come back to the UK (whenever that is!) with a fresh perspective on life.

Meanwhile, I'm off to change my flights somehow and then I think it's off for a little Bondi beach action. Heck yes!

Love to you all - I'll be on the Rocks at the Harbour come NYE! How exciting will that be! Woo!

Love to you all,
Laura xxx

Hello chums, I'm in Sydney's Olympic Park!

Hi all,
Sorry it's been a bit of a while - we've been working our arses off getting up from Cann River a week and a half ago. Dave's been skating awesomely painful days, his feet are shot and we're all pooped but he's now the WORLD RECORD holder! And we're being put up in the 4* Novotel in the Olympic Park here courtesy of some very kind people. I'm sure everyone else will comment on this event but I will say it was a very proud moment skating alongside Dave, taking his hand for a sec just to say 'Cheers bud'. I was crying, I'm not ashamed to say!

I've really settled into the fundraising role, and I love going out and seeing how much we can raise for the charities. It's been tough at times but we all keep each other going and make sure we have some fun along the way. Last week we raised over 1000 dollars and I can see us going for it all the way up the coast.

All I can say after last nights celebrations is that Bev is a legend and it involved a marker pen and a poor poor off duty barman.

Sydney is looking hot today so I'm going to go and lather up on sun lotion and watch a very hungover Dave try and look his best on Sunrise, Australia's equivalent of GMTV.

And a big welcome to Kenneth, my brown Protec helmet, the newest joinee of the BFLaura Skate Equipment Collection! Bought at Monster Skate Park, the largest skate park in the Southern Hemisphere!

Love to all - if I'm not answering your emails it's because I am simply on such a tight schedule on this computer and tonnes of folks want to use it. I love you all dearly! Scotland, Devon - keep in contact!

Hello from Merimbula!

Right my lovelies - I'm so sorry I haven't posted in a long time, I've been on the road doing busy fundraising/skate trek support team things. We've had a lot of laughs and a few lows and now the road stretches up to Sydney. You can catch up on all our movements on the main Boardfree site, as I'm going to focus on what I'm feeling in this blog.

I'm doing okay, I'm loving Australia - even the beasties are incredible (can't remember if I said something about finding a Huntsman spider in our cabin but holy hell was that big one). We keep seeing roos and wallabies everywhere along the roads - some even alive!

I'm feeling torn just now actually. I miss the affection of my friends in Glasgow, my partner and my family, but I'm loving the road, Oz, Boardfree and everything I'm doing...right down to mixing a salad by the ocean...that was a leveller.

We've done fundraising up in Sydney, I've met some of my good friends from home while I was there and we've all had a bit of downtime in places to just stop and stare which has been good for everyone.

The big push in the next ten days will take Dave to Sydney, and bring home the world record. I'm enjoying the hard work, amused at the team dynamic and ready to take the world by storm.

The only thing that annoyed me today was that someone hacked into my Paypal and took some of my hard earned money to pay for 1000 web ad imprints. I'm a bit angry I can tell you.

Keep it real kids,
Laura x
